Biography
BK found a passion for fitness and explosive strength as a 4-year cheerleader for Villanova University (cheer captain, if you must know!). Once out of college and grad school, he struggled with inspiration and rigor. In his own words: I needed something to motivate me and push me, otherwise I’d slack off (might be why I never shut up teaching class now – always trying to push and motivate others!). I Found a fitness community in Arlington three years ago (Potomac CrossFit, RIP) with the drive and motivation I needed to jump start my own fitness. Three years later, I’m currently stronger, faster, and leaner than I was than during four years of varsity training at Villanova. That said, I still struggle with working out by myself! I know it’s real! I need a buddy, class, or competition to keep me honest and pushing myself to full potential in the gym. Fitness is a team sport! I’m always trying to improve my mental toughness in the gym. Embrace the suck, one rep at a time, the mental game is half the battle when under a barbell but you are stronger than you think!
